Personalizing Student Learning: Uncommon Learning Experiences in an Era of Common Standards

Holding students accountable to common standards is not synonymous with providing one path for them to get there. Drawing upon students’ passion and life experience is critical to creating lifelong learners rather than annual test-takers. Explore ways to personalize students’ learning experience through the use of tiered transfer tasks, various multimedia tools, and peer collaboration (both face-to-face and virtual). Tools for student goal-setting and self-monitoring are also shared.
